The Four Seasons

January 12, 2024

Nashville is a special place. I have been fortunate to visit on many occasions and experience the food and music. The spirit of hospitality is all around, and it truly is an atmosphere that is welcoming no matter what day or time of day. In July, I went down to Nashville for two nights to have a change of scenery and celebrate the 4th. Three food places were unforgettable. The first was Jeni’s Ice Cream. My lady had been talking about Jeni’s Ice Cream for quite some time but insisted my first experience with Jeni’s Ice Cream be at one of her locations. Check out my Instagram reels for my initial reaction to Jeni’s HEAVENLY Ice Cream. The second place I’d like to mention is Hans Banh Mi & Pho at Assembly Food Hall. Hans was so good we went twice. I ordered the BBQ pork banh mi and traditional beef pho. Both were out of this world. The last place I want to share with you is the Four Seasons’ Mimo Bar.

I had never walked into a Four Seasons hotel before my trip to Nashville. We finished walking across the pedestrian bridge and wanted a refreshing beverage. We stumbled upon the Four Seasons and decided to check it out. The bell person enthusiastically greeted us and escorted my lady and me to the lobby. We were immediately greeted by a guest service agent standing behind a podium. I like that this person was there to direct us because, with no luggage in tow, it was obvious, that we didn’t need to approach the front desk. She seemed genuinely thrilled to see us and we were equally thrilled to be in a relaxed and tranquil environment away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Nashville.

The bartender at Mimo Bar was engaging and attentive. Our drinks were the escape from the ordinary that we were craving. As we were enjoying our drinks a manager approached us to inquire about our visit. She was curious to know where we were from and what brought us to Nashville. We learned from her that the hotel opened in the fall of 2022, and she had been with the company for many years and her husband is the manager. If you know me personally, you know I love asking questions and getting to know new people. She had a genuine passion for hospitality and customer service, and I wanted to know more about her career and the Four Seasons in general. The pride this Four Seasons team member conveyed to us was they were not just appreciating our business but cherished our presence. Check out the book Four Seasons: The Story of a Business Philosophy to learn more about this company’s astounding success.

As I mentioned in an earlier post my lady loves places with a chill vibe. Mimo Bar was chill and comfortable, so we decided to go back the next day. This time we were hungry. I ordered the oysters on the half shell and my pretty lady ordered the Wagyu burger and truffle fries. A gentleman next to us ordered the burger and when it came out there was no stopping my lady. She’s a burger gal. One day I’ll tell the story of her ordering a burger on Valentine’s Day at LeMoo and the awful reaction the server gave us. I’m no relationship expert but one thing I do know is if your lady wants a burger no matter what restaurant you’re at, respect her decision and enjoy the profound joy she is experiencing while eating it.

It was during this time a downpour of rain caught us all off guard especially everyone outside. The hotel lobby, bar, and restaurant filled up quickly. The Four Seasons was hopping, and we loved the energy. The bartenders and servers were like seasoned performers, and they mastered food and drink orders effortlessly.

The best way I can describe the Four Seasons in Nashville is that hospitality reaches new heights there. I hope to visit that location and several other Four Seasons in the future. If there is anyone who works in customer service or hospitality and wants to improve their skills my recommendation is to go sit in the bar at a Four Seasons, order a few cocktails and an entree. Enjoy the experience, observe everything, and mimic or mirror what you can.
