Revival Vintage Bottle Shop

I’ve been hearing from many friends about how they have also been to Neat Bourbon Bar or have given thought to visiting in the future. I really can’t talk about Neat without mentioning Revival Vintage Bottle Shop in Covington, Kentucky.  On a cold, damp November day, we met up with our besties in Walton and drove on up to Revival.

This was my first time visiting a bar that carries vintage and rare bottles of bourbon. For me, this bar takes it to the next level. I’m not familiar with Covington, but it felt like Revival was in the heart of downtown Covington. It was charming and historic. I felt the history as soon as we walked in. The walls are adorned with vintage bottles of bourbon, of all shapes and sizes. Many with layers of dust which I was digging. It was a cozy, warm, and inviting atmosphere.

We sat at the bar and quickly got to know Jason the bartender. We loved hearing about the extensive collection and the featured ones for the day. My pretty lady insisted I sample ones from the gravesites of Kentucky bourbon legends we have visited. I was happy to oblige. We tasted Weller’s Antique 107, Early Times Old Style Kentucky Whisky, and Jim Beam's 50th anniversary (1971), and Russell’s Reserves 13-Year Limited Release. I exchanged tasting notes with my trusted friend and bourbon advisor Mark. He’s always introducing us to different brands and gives us insight along the way.

We were all impressed with the Old Taylor collection from 1917. YES! 1917! My pretty lady loved the vintage decanters. Their collection is quite impressive.

I was equally impressed with the bartender Jason. He was incredibly knowledgeable and a fantastic storyteller. We were captivated by him the minute we arrived. He was eager to share with us about bourbons that we didn’t know much about. Bartenders who have great personalities, share knowledge without being overwhelming and make us feel welcomed always leave a lasting impression.

We will be visiting Revival again! Give Revival a follow on IG @revivalvintagespirits. Co-Founder Brad Bonds posts often on LinkedIn as well. Shannon Smith (co-founder) and Brad will both be at The Ripy Mansion in Lawrenceburg on February 22nd for a special bourbon session.

Have you been to Revival? Let me know!
