A DELIGHTFUL MORNING AT CRUST & CRUMB

Norton Commons is charming and even more so with the addition of Crust & Crumb bakery and cafe.  Debbie Hatton has gained quite a reputation online and at local farmers' markets over the years.  With a handful of soft openings completed, Crust & Crumb now has regular hours, and it's not uncommon to see a line out the door even during the week!

We went on a Saturday recently, and the anticipation in the air was almost palpable as we walked past the patio.  It was popping, and it was impossible not to miss the long line stretching out the door.  I've been following Debbie's journey for years.  She has traveled across the United States and Europe, immersing herself in diverse baking techniques and the latest café trends.  Debbie has created a first-class establishment with a warm and inviting atmosphere.  Her passion and dedication are fully displayed, from the decor to the scones!

The long line moved pretty quickly, and when we finally made our way inside, Debbie greeted us with a big smell and a friendly hello.  I was impressed with the array of products, from tea to cheese, available just past the door.  I wanted a croissant and was lucky they were not sold out.  Of course, I had to have a classic latte.   The croissant was exactly the way I like it - flaky, buttery, light, and it melted in my mouth.  Could have 10 more. LOL.  My pretty lady ordered the cheddar and jalapeño scone, which she had had many times before the bakery opening.  It's not a regular menu item, and she was thrilled to see it that day!  We also had the date and walnut bread, which they sliced for us.   The natural sweetness of the dates paired well with the texture of walnuts.  And that latte . . . .it was PERFECT!

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that my pretty lady went back and ordered the chocolate cream puff and chocolate babka knot. She enjoyed them both and talked about the chocolate cream puff for days!

I absolutely love the European vibe of Crust & Crumb.  It's fun, elegant, and has a touch of sophistication.  It's a special place and showcases Debbie's commitment to quality and excellence.

If you haven't been to Crust & Crumb, what are you waiting for?  When you do go, tell them Zander sent you!
